[You aren't where you just were a moment ago. You remember it very clearly: who you were talking to, or fighting with, or what book you were reading.
Now? It is bit like you blinked and never opened your eyes again. The world around you is dark and devoid of boundaries or shapes. Little swirls of light and after images dance in front of your straining eyes. Your ears cling to the comfort of the sound of your clothes and your breathing over the overwhelming nothing around you.
All you know is that you are standing and you are very, very alone right now.]
[You being to make out what looks to be a table, backlit by a simple, odd glow.
[It happens between one step and the next. A sickening drop, a feeling of weightlessness that leaves your stomach in your throat and your arms flailing.
Then as if it never happened at all, you seem to blink, standing, about to take a step again.]
[Grotesquely elongated fingers lift from the surface and gestures in the air between them, strange, nonsensical symbols and motions... finally, with easy slowness, they drop to the table, scooping up a deck of cards and holds them out for you.]
[The hands lift and then finger walk across the table, fingernails clicking over the tops. It picks up on card - the Ace of Flames, then and then settles the next - the Ten of Flames, the Two of Empty lays across it, inverted. And alone sits the Seven of Death.
Finally it picks up the final card and lifts it between two fingers and holds it out to you.]
[You dream that you sit up in the middle of the night, your room absolutely photorealistic. The shadows are deeper, the colors a little more washed out. As you look out the window, you see a figure missing arms walk through the empty, still courtyard with stiff, awkward steps. It vanishes to the south....]
[You have a dream about baking an apple pie with Rush. You share a heartfelt conversation about your hatred of mint and zombies. You feel like you might become closer soon.]
[Night 0]

Re: [Night 0]
Damnit—Donny, are you experimenting with something stupid again?!
Re: [Night 0]
Your voice echoes back, over and over.]
Re: [Night 0]
Donny? Mikey! Leo! Hey!!
Re: [Night 0]
The voice fades out and is swallowed by .. the faint sound of something ticking.]

Instead, your straining eyes begin to make out a patch of something lighter again.]

[takes very cautious, light steps towards the light patch again, making sure to always keep one foot firmly on the ground]
Re: [Night 0]
[Ahead you see... a table with two hands settled on it calmly.]
Re: [Night 0]
Hey, buddy! Where the heck am I? And who the heck are you?
Re: [Night 0]
Re: [Night 0]
Re: [Night 0]
A voice lifts, filling the silence. Low, heavy and strangely accented, it hurts your ears a little to listen to.]
Welcome, Thief.
Re: [Night 0]
Re: [Night 0]
Shall we-
[It begins to lay out cards, face down.]
Welcome, Thief.
Re: [Night 0]
Re: [Night 0]
[The hands uncurl slowly around the deck and points to the cards laying on the table.]

Re: [Night 0]
Fine. You've got thirty seconds, and then I'm out of here.
Re: [Night 0]
Finally it picks up the final card and lifts it between two fingers and holds it out to you.]
Here is your card, Thief.
Re: [Night 0]
[takes the card anyway, frowning at it]
Re: [Night 0]
Have a pleasant dream, Thief.
[You freeze. Everything stops, and then vanishes entirely.]
